TriAngle 2.0 for Excel released
This release comes with new features, improvements and design optimizations.
If you do not know the template yet, I introduce at the end.
Whats new in 2.0?
(April 2026)
- Up to 30 data points are shown in the ‚Single Data‘ chart (was 10 in version 1.2)
- Up to 20 data series with up to 100 data points per series are shown in the ‚Serial Data‘ chart (was 10 in version 1.2)
- bigger choice of different %- grids, -ticks and -labels:
- 20%
- 25%
- 33.3%
- 50%
- each part of the chart can be formatted now (for example, color, line thickness, font type, font size…)
- The example mask ‚Classification of tuffs and ashes‘ has now optional labels which can be changed now in the ‚Individual mask‘ (this was not possible in version 1.2)
About TriAngle for Excel
TriAngle is a free Microsoft ExcelTM spreadsheet template to create triangular plots in an easy way. It can be downloaded at https://jmw-geo.com/triangle
Features:

3. No use of VBA; to adapt easily the file to other desktop and mobile spreadsheet programs which do not support VBA
4. Automatic display of apexes titles
5. Automatic display of a legend (can be deleted if not desired)
6. Selection of typical masks used in the daily business of geoscientists – the user has the chance to add own masks
7. High quality of the resulting chart for direct use in documents without reformatting with a drawing software
8. Added data are shown immediately after insertion in the table
9. Further masks and labels can be designed and inserted by the user using a pre-defined form. A manual how to do so is included in worksheet ‘Manual’
